In this Gutsy Learning Series (GLS) webinar, participants learned about new and emerging therapies for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in Canada. The session covered expert insights from Dr. Robert Battat and lived experience speaker Sophie Dufresne. They also discussed existing treatment options, navigating surgeries, and living with IBD. Attendees gained practical guidance and real-life perspective on managing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), helping them better understand available treatment options and what’s on the horizon for care. Dr. Robert Battat Gastroenterologist, Attending Physician and Scientist CHUM
Dr. Robert Battat is a gastroenterologist specializing in Crohn’s and colitis and an Attending Physician and Scientist at CHUM, where he leads the Center for Clinical Excellence and Translational Research in IBD. He has extensive experience caring for patients at all stages and is recognized internationally for his expertise in optimizing treatments and improving outcomes.
Sophie Dufresne
Sophie Dufresne was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 1992 and has undergone multiple surgeries, including colon resections and gallbladder removal. An active member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Canada community, she shares her experiences to support newly diagnosed individuals. Sophie shares her journey of navigating treatments, surgeries, and life with IBD.
